Memorial Day Weekend, 2009
Dick Drechsler was invited to speak at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. about the Sail Through Cancer Foundation, his book Manning Up In Alaska and the Six-Point Plan for Presidential Action being advocated on behalf of the Foundation. Since he and Sharon were going to be in the Chesapeake Bay area over Memorial Day weekend, the Bay 470 owners planned a mini rendezvous.
The 470s joined a planned raft-up in St. Domingo Creek in the St. Michaels area by the Chesapeake Catalina Yacht Club, the local Catalina fleet, with member boats from 27 to 47 feet. Bob Jones (Silhouette) served as host for Dick and Sharon and was joined by Jim Wohlleber (Beckoning) and Larry and Wendy Cohen (Comfortably Numb).
